Es considera que els seus l\u00edmits abasten des del riu Navia a Ast\u00faries, fins al riu Duero a Portugal.<\/p><p>Temporalment es va desenvolupar des del final de l&#8217;Edat del Bronze (sobre el segle VIII aC.) fins a la romanitzaci\u00f3 (segle I dC), fins i tot arribant en alguns llocs fins al segle V.<\/p><p>El tret distintiu de la cultura castrenya \u00e9s el <strong>castre<\/strong>, un assentament fortificat que marca la transici\u00f3 fonamental cap a una vida m\u00e9s sedent\u00e0ria i socialment estructurada. Tot i que hi ha castres en altres parts de la Pen\u00ednsula, es considera cultura castrenya a la qual ocupava aquests territoris nord-occidentals.<\/p><p>L&#8217;economia castrenya era b\u00e0sicament autosuficient: agricultura cerealista, ramaderia, recol\u00b7lecci\u00f3, ca\u00e7a i pesca. Un tret significatiu \u00e9s la introducci\u00f3 de la planta rectangular en substituci\u00f3 de les tradicionals edificacions circulars o ovalades pr\u00f2pies de la cultura castrenya, aix\u00ed com la coberta de teula despla\u00e7ant a la coberta de palla.<\/p><p>Alhora, l&#8217;estructura social, l&#8217;activitat econ\u00f2mica i l&#8217;organitzaci\u00f3 del territori es van veure profundament afectades. Va ser declarat <em>B\u00e9 d&#8217;Inter\u00e8s Cultural (BIC)<\/em> per la Xunta de Gal\u00edcia l&#8217;any 2009.<\/p><p>El Castre consta de diversos recintes de muralles i fossats, antecastres o \u00e0rees d&#8217;expansi\u00f3 i una gran \u00e0rea central residencial o <em>croa<\/em>, on hi ha la majoria de les estructures excavades.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>L&#8217;interior de la <em>croa<\/em> s&#8217;articula al voltant de dos camins que es creuen d&#8217;est a oest (de porta a porta) i de nord a sud, i una ronda interior paral\u00b7lela a la muralla principal que dona acc\u00e9s als habitatges situats al costat de la muralla.<\/p><p>Tamb\u00e9 s&#8217;hi observa un cert grau d&#8217;urbanisme: les construccions s&#8217;agrupen formant conjunts, deixant entre ells espais per circular com a carrers, en alguns casos empedrats i amb canalitzacions per a l&#8217;aigua.<\/p><p>Alguns habitatges apareixen a\u00efllats; altres s&#8217;amplien mitjan\u00e7ant un annex per a noves depend\u00e8ncies, formant conjunts de construcci\u00f3 que podrien identificar-se amb grups familiars en qu\u00e8 s&#8217;integren habitatges, feines, magatzems i fins i tot obradors.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div d&#8217;un corredor monumental, flanquejat per alts paraments, on es van descobrir les obertures de dues portes successives. successi\u00f3 de quatre muralles i tres fossats. L&#8217;excavaci\u00f3 arqueol\u00f2gica d&#8217;aquest sistema defensiu va revelar l&#8217;estructura de les muralles, de terra i pedra, i la profunditat notable dels fossats. A la part superior existiria una estacada i un cam\u00ed de ronda. S&#8217;accedia a les muralles per escales de pedra disposades en forma de \u201cV\u201d.<\/p><p>Per la part exterior del costat de llevant, al costat de l&#8217;entrada, s&#8217;estenien els fossats.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ec1f825 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"ec1f825\" pel costat oest i per la zona sud dos <strong>avantcastres<\/strong> o <strong>\u00e0rees d&#8217;expansi\u00f3<\/strong>, formant terrasses dividides en diverses parts. Els avantcastres tamb\u00e9 estaven delimitats i protegits exteriorment per murs de terra, per\u00f2 de menys envergadura que les defenses de la <em>croa<\/em>.<\/p><p>Aquestes \u00e0mplies terrasses es van poder utilitzar per cultivar la terra, per estabular bestiar o per ampliar la zona d&#8217;habitaci\u00f3 del poblat. S&#8217;hi va descobrir part del cam\u00ed d&#8217;acc\u00e9s a la <em>croa<\/em>, aix\u00ed com restes d&#8217;una sitja a l&#8217;interior d&#8217;una construcci\u00f3
